Coach MJ is excited to join Virginia Fusion Volleyball Club as the 15’s head coach and 16’s assistant. She is the inaugural Lightridge High School Varsity Volleyball Coach, and comes to Loudoun County after serving as the Varsity Assistant at Falls Church High School, where she helped develop 4 All-District selections including the Regional Defensive Specialist of the Year. As a local club coach last season at the 15’s level, Coach MJ was one of two coaches nationally (the only female coach) to earn both the AVCA NetWorks Award and the AVCA Innovation Award in their inaugural year (2020).
Coach MJ played NCAA Division 1 volleyball at Missouri State University, helping her team to two NCAA tournament appearances and was an Academic All-Conference selection her senior year. In 2013, she was invited to try out for the USA Collegiate National Team in Colorado Springs.
Prior to college, Coach MJ was a varsity starter for the McClintock High School Chargers all four years. She was named All-Region all four years, All-State three years, and was named Arizona Big Schools Female Scholar Athlete of the Year for all sports her senior year. She was named to the Prepvolleyball.com Frosh 59 list her freshman year as an outside hitter, and again as a Prepvolleyball.com Academic All-American her senior year as a setter. Coach MJ holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the Honors College at Missouri State University and a Master’s Degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from George Mason University. She is currently in the dissertation phase of her PhD program for Industrial/ Organizational Psychology. MJ coaches volleyball because she has a passion for developing young leaders through the sport that she loves.
Tad Wymer has been coaching and playing competitive volleyball in Northern Virginia for over 25 years. He has coached at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. Three years of his coaching career were spent as an assistant coach at Shenandoah University. From 2011-2014, he coached at Loudoun County High School, helping the program win three consecutive state championships. He coached U15-U18's teams at Dulles Volleyball (now Grit) for three years. There, he led his indoor club teams, then moved outside during the summer and fall seasons to coach beach volleyball. Virginia Fusion has been his home for the past four years, head coaching Fusions' 15s, 16s and 17s teams, and offering recruiting and assistant coaching support as well.
Tad continues to play in an adult beach league with his wife and has two teenage daughters.
